HOD’s Message

Department of Civil Engineering is one of the departments established in the year 1984, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and recognized by AICTE. It offers an Undergraduate Program in Civil Engineering with the intake of 120. Along with Post Graduate course in Structures with the intake of 18, the department is also recognized as Research Centre by Savitribai Phule Pune University for Ph.D. studies. The Undergraduate program is accredited in 2003, 2012 and 2019 for 3 years by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), AICTE, and New Delhi.

The department is always actively busy in imparting good quality and value based education to the students. The department is committed to the advancement of a healthy academic culture and a symbiosis between the teachers and students. The present and future expectations of the learning process, experimentation and exchange of ideas are continuously occurring. Civil Engineering Department has different laboratories well equipped with modern instruments, classrooms, separate computing facilities with latest licensed software’s, visual aids like charts and models, audio video learning material and specially prepared transparencies. etc. are planned carefully and catering the needs of undergraduate & postgraduate technical courses.

The department has its own collection of books, reference material, projects and seminar reports, manuals, IS codes in its departmental library. The department had received grants of Rs. 7 lakhs and Rs. 15 lakhs from the AICTE, New Delhi under MODROBS scheme.

The department has highly modernized laboratories which cater the needs of local industry by carrying out testing and consultancy work since civil engineering is an application of knowledge to real life problems. This work, also, generates the funds for our institute and provides the exposure of overcoming the field problems for our faculty members. Department has purchased servo controlled UTM with hydraulic grips of Rs. 20 lakhs and Dynamics Actuator of Rs.24 lakhs for research work.

The department has got a good track record of academic results. Mr. Mayur Patil and Mr. Chhawsaria Amit was University Topper in May 2008 and 2015 exam & several students have obtained university ranks in the university examination. The department organizes FORCE (Festival of Revolutionary Civil Engineers) every year in the month of March. The students and the staff members are encouraged to participate in different seminars, conferences, workshops and refresher courses in the fields of their own interest.
