Engineering Workshop

Engineering Workshop practices are the backbone of the real industrial environment which helps to develop and enhance relevant technical hand skills required by the technicians working in the various engineering industries.

Our Engineering Workshop intends to impart basic know-how of various hand tools, power tools, machine tools and their use in different sections of manufacturing. Irrespective of any discipline of engineering education, the skill and knowledge of workshop practices help to solve a large number of real-life problems in day-to-day industrial as well as domestic life.

The workshop experiences would help to build an understanding of the complexity of the industrial job, along with the time and skills requirements of it. The workshop curriculum builds hands-on experiences which would help to learn manufacturing processes and production technology courses in successive semesters.

Workshop practice is also important since only practice can make a man perfect. The students are advised to undergo each skill experience with remembrance, understanding and application with special emphasis on the attitude of inquiry to know why and how for various instructions and practices imparted to them in each shop.

The seven instruction shops (such as the Turning Shop, Machine Shop, Tin Smithy Shop, Welding and Press Shop, Carpentry and Pattern Making Shop, Fitting Shop and Black Smithy Shop) have been established to learn and practice a wide range of manufacturing processes.

The Engineering Workshop has conventional machines like Lathe, Grinding, Drilling, Shaping Machines, Electric Arc Welding, Gas Welding, Spot Welding, Wooden Saw Cutter, Wooden Planner Machine, Wood Turning Lathe, and Jig Saw Machines.

Along with the conventional machines, we have modern machine tools like a 3D Printer, CO2 Laser Cutting Machine, Band Saw Cutter, CNC Turning Machine, VMC Milling Machine, Plasma Cutter, Micro MIG, Micro TIG, and various woodworking machines like Roller Press, Edge Binder, Wood Turning, Mortised Drilling, Tilting Saw Cutter and Router Table in our Engineering Workshop.

Presently Prof. Dr. N. B. Gurule is heading the workshop department as Workshop Superintendent. He is a Ph.D (Production Engineering), from Savitribai Phule Pune University with 25 years of teaching experience.

A resource in the workshop not only helps to complete the engineering practical syllabus but also supports undertaking undergraduate projects, creative competitive working models manufacturing to the postgraduate and PhD research projects of social and industrial relevance.
