Centre of Excellence in (Electrical Department)

The department has a recognized Research Centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University and offers Ph.D. in various areas of Electrical Engineering.

Department of Electrical Engineering has a Center of Excellence in the area of ‘Insulation Diagnostic and Condition Monitoring’. The Centre of Excellence is supported by Megger India Pvt. Ltd.
Megger is one of the well-established International firms that has manufacturing plants located in Germany, Sweden, UK and USA. Megger designs and manufactures portable electrical test equipment. The company has donated 15 major equipment of worth Rs. 7996000/- to the department.
Centre of Excellence enables to fostering of technical education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to make the students industry-ready, strengthens theoretical knowledge in industrial practice, and enhances students subject related knowledge. Under this, initiative training sessions are conducted for students and technicians to enhance their knowledge in the areas of condition monitoring.
The activities are useful for the students in laboratory works related to courses like Material Science, Electrical Maintenance and Testing, Power Quality, etc.

Emerson India is authorized by its objects to donate funds, and the Institute is empowered to raise/receive funds for the purpose of carrying out and achieving its objectives.
Emerson System and Solutions Business unit (SYSS) and its project engineering center at Pune (IEEC) donated its state-of-the-art control system DeltaV (equipment) to the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication engineering to provide an opportunity to students in the institute to get hands on experience on the latest automation system.
MoU signed on: 18/09/2019 The total amount of funding in the form of Equipment: INR 17, 01,291/- Date of Receipt of Equipment: 16/01/2020

Objectives

Institute will use the system for training the students.

To provide them with an exposure to latest trends in process automation.

To include topics in curriculum which will help their graduate and postgraduate students to understand process automation topics and conduct practical experiments on the equipment.

Texas Instruments Centre of Excellence

The Nodal Centre of “Centre of Excellence” was established in the department as per MoU between Texas Instruments and Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Texas Instruments, Bengaluru has signed MoU with Savitribai Phule Pune University to develop nodal centres at the institutions affiliated to it. Under this scheme, one of the seven nodal centres is established in E & TC Engineering Department of the institute as Texas Excellence Centre.

Specialized training kits worth Rs.4, 93,619 have been sponsored by Texas Instruments and are now available for research related to IoT, Embedded Systems, Power Electronics, Analog Electronics etc.
