Innov-Era 2025 - A National Level Hackathon

The Department of Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, and Computer Science & Design of K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik, successfully hosted the  inaugural edition of the national-level hackathon, “Innov-Era 2025,” on March 2, 2025, with great enthusiasm. The one-day event witnessed an overwhelming response, with 1,086 participants forming 181 groups. Out of these, 128 participants from 25 groups were selected for the final round.

The event was inaugurated by renowned computer science expert and author Mr. Atul Kahate, while the prize distribution was presided over by  Divisional Commissioner of Nashik Dr. Pravin Gedam. The event was also attended by the institution's Chairman, Mr. Sameer Wagh, and Trustee, Mr. Ashokbhai Merchant. The Head of the organizing departments, Prof. Dr. Snehal Kamalapur, elaborated on the competition's format and significance. She stated, “The hackathon is structured around five crucial domains (Panchatatva)-Aero (EdTech), Terre (Green Tech), Hydra (FinTech), Aether (Cybersecurity), and Ignis (Next-Gen Technologies)-aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Such competitions foster innovative technocrats who can address societal challenges effectively.”

During his keynote address, Mr. Atul Kahate emphasized the importance of AI, stating, “Artificial Intelligence is unlocking new opportunities, and mastering machine learning, data science, and deep learning is essential for technological advancement. It is crucial to embrace AI rather than fear it while strengthening fundamental knowledge.”

Dr. Pravin Gedam, during the closing ceremony and prize distribution, remarked, “Hackathons are not just competitions but platforms for nurturing skilled technologists. Through innovation and technology, young minds can solve key public service issues and contribute to national development. The ideas conceived today could significantly impact governance, security, and public services in the future.”

Winning teams from each of the five domains received cash prizes of ₹50,000 each. Teams from institutions such as Sandip University(Nashik),  Sanjivani College of Engineering (Kopargaon), K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research(Nashik) and Velammal Engineering College (Chennai) emerged as winners.

The event was sponsored by Triarq Health LLP, Aress Software, WePlus Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., The Parnika, and Unstop and notable alumni including Prashant Bhende and Vijay Agrawal. The alumni played the role of mentors for the projects. The evaluation was conducted by esteemed industry professionals. Prof. Nitin Shahane, Prof. Preeti Vaidya, and Prof. Priya Rakibe and all Faculty members along with student coordinators, played a crucial role in the event’s success.

The guidance and support of K.K. Wagh Education Society’s President, Mr. Sameer Wagh; Mr. Ashok Merchant; Mr. Ajinkya Wagh; Secretary, Prof. K.S. Bandi; and other trustees, along with Principal Dr. Keshav Nandurkar, contributed to the event’s success, and they extended their heartfelt congratulations to the winners. The alumni played the role of mentors for the projects.

Participants appreciated the arrangements done by the institute, especially for the outside students.
