Brief Profile

Dr. Hrishikesh A. Shahane presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Nashik. Before joining KKWIEE&R, he spent 14 months as a Postdoctoral Fellow (December 2023–January 2025) at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He obtained his PhD from S V NIT Surat and Masters from College of Engineering Pune (COEP) in Geotechnical Engineering. His scholarly endeavours include the 07 papers in reputed international journals and 02 granted patents. He is actively associated with testing and consultancy work related to geotechnical engineering and geomaterial characterizations for various agencies like government, semi government and private sectors.

  • Transportation geotechnics: Utilization of industrial solid wastes in pavement, Sustainable Pavement/Construction Materials, Geosynthetic for Pavements
  • Geotechnical properties of geomaterials for rational and sustainable design and construction such as fly ash aggregates, fly ash-geopolymer, mine tailing-geopolymer, etc.
  • Ground Improvement, Soil Stabilization, Behavior of compacted and stabilized geomaterials
  • Development of sustainable construction materials - Artificial aggregates, bricks, geopolymers by utilizing industrial solid wastes like fly ash, mine tailings, slags, locally available materials, etc.
  • Life cycle assessment
