Mechanical Engineering

HOD’s Message

Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1995 and is approved by AICTE New Delhi and affiliated to Pune University. Department of Mechanical Engineering has been accredited by NBA, AICTE, New Delhi. Department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and Laboratories with excellent computational facilities including professional software packages such as AutoCAD, PTC Creo, Ansys, MATLAB, Master cam, Automation studio, etc. The Department is active academically with excellent results and is equally active in co-curricular activities including SAE, ISHRAE, MESA and Renewable Energy Clubs.

The Department has highly qualified faculty members who are the alumni of reputed institutions like IITs and NITs. Specialization both in the areas of Thermal as well as Design streams exists in the Department which is reflected in several research papers published by the faculty. The Department has successfully organized workshops in collaboration with IIT Bombay under the sponsorship of MHRD Govt. of India. The students of the department have presented papers/ participated in various National level events and won the prizes. Many students of second year, third year, final year topped the university examination with ranks 1 to 12.

For all round development of the students, various expert lectures/workshops, technical tours/industrial visits are organized in various areas of Mechanical Engineering and allied fields regularly. Many companies of repute conduct campus placement and a good number of students get placed. Mechanical Engineering stream has intake of 120 students. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers testing, consultancy and training services in the area of Mechanical design, Vibration, Renewable Energy Sources and Energy management and audit.

Department of Mechanical Engineering aims to establish a centre of excellence in various areas of Mechanical engineering such as Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Energy management and audit, Design and to offer value added services to industries as well as society. The Students admitted from A.Y. 2022-23 onwards will be awarded with degree of B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering after completion of the course.

Professional Body chapters

Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE): -

ISHRAE Nashik Students Chapter was established in K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik in 2017 in association with ISHRAE Nashik Sub chapter. The objective of the chapter is to expose students to the advancement of the Arts and Sciences of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering and Related Services. Chapter offers continuing education of student members in the said sciences through Lectures, Workshops, Product Presentations, Publications and exhibitions. Student chapter renders career guidance and financial assistance to students of the said sciences and also encouragement of the scientific research.

SAEINDIA Collegiate Club -

SAEINDIA has more than 480 collegiate clubs located all over India. Collegiate clubs provide practical exposure to a professional engineering society as well as focal point for campus engineering programs and projects. Applicants are students pursuing studies leading to any bachelor, masters, or doctoral degree in Engineering Colleges approved by AICTE or UGC. SAEINDIA membership is not open to school students. SAE INDIA Collegiate Club was established at K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research in 2016. SAEINDIA student members participate in various events organized by SAEINDIA. Also various activities are being organized through SAE INDIA collegiate club.

Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA):-

MESA is the Mechanical Engineering Students Association of K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik. The basic aim of MESA is to enrich students with different qualities to add dimensions to their personality so that every student emerges as a multi-functional engineer who is globally recognized. The governing body is composed of only students. The president of MESA and various posts of MESA committees such as Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Liaison Officer Selected from Mechanical Engineering Departmental students by interviewing them. Staff advisor is allotted to guide MESA committee members.
